In 1979, Jens (Slim) and Dorothy Bach founded Slimdor Holding Ltd. Their first major project was the reclamation of the Canmore Coal Mines - a 3000-acre site that now forms much of the area known as Three Sisters.
In 1982, Slimdor was awarded another contract, which was to mine raw materials for Lafarge Canada at the Exshaw cement plant. The quality of service and productivity Slimdor provided helped to develop and flourish its business relationship with Lafarge.
In 1988, Slim sold the company to his son, Rich, who continued to uphold the reputation Slimdor had built, with projects including long-term contracts with Alberta Environmental Protention.
In 2003, Slimdor arrived in Calgary and began establishing itself as the go-to contractor for underground utilities and earthworks. Slimdoor has enjoyed tremendous growth since then, employing over 100 people.
Moving forward, Slimdor remains an established construction leader, committed to furthering our reputation not only with our projects but in the community as well, including our longstanding involvement with many local charities.
